The Ten Commandments of cell phone etiquette

Yes, you may wonder, is this post actually necessary? And my answer is definitely yes. It is unfortunate that with today's cell phone technology popularity, people seem to forget that still exists and showed still be valued. I found this article by Dan Briody giving us the Then Commandments on cell phone etiquette. I listed a couple that I called out to me most, Click Here to read the rest. And please, have some cell phone etiquette. :)

3. Thou shalt turn thy cell phone off during public performances. I'm not even sure this one needs to be said, but given the repeated violations of this heretofore unwritten law, I felt compelled to include it.
(Especially during the movies. The light, not to mention lack of attention is terribly annoying!)

5. Thou shalt not dial while driving. In all seriousness, this madness has to stop. There are enough people in the world who have problems mastering vehicles and phones individually. Put them together and we have a serious health hazard on our hands.

8. Thou shalt not grow too attached to thy cell phone. For obvious reasons, a dependency on constant communication is not healthy. At work, go nuts. At home, give it a rest.

10. Thou shalt not slam thy cell phone down on a restaurant table just in case it rings. This is not the Old West, and you are not a gunslinger sitting down to a game of poker in the saloon. Could you please be a little less conspicuous? If it rings, you'll hear it just as well if it's in your coat pocket or clipped on your belt.

Harley Weir

I came across Harley Weir's photographs while i-netting it on the Vice Mag site. (An awesome and witty magazine.) They give a sense of nostalgic peace, all with a wonderful color palette. Check out his Flickr here.

A few of my favorite.

A la Cart!

While wondering around online in Boing Boing, i came across a section about the book A la Cart: The Secret Lives of Grocery Shoppers.

"My friend, Hillary Carlip, likes to collect other people's discarded shopping lists. She likes them so much she created an art project based on the lists. She has a new book out called A la Cart: The Secret Lives of Grocery Shoppers, in which she imagines the identity of the shopper and assumes their identity and creates a story about them."

I, personally, love to read about the many things some people love to collect & what they do with their collections. I would read this one for fun :)

Fun Times....

Henri’s walk to Paris

I wish I had this one in my collection.

Via grainedit.com

"As far as I know this is the only kids picture book illustrated by designer Saul Bass. Saul provides a 60s pop color backdrop for the text written by Leonore Klein. The book was published by Young Scott books in 1962.

Henri’s walk to Paris is the story of young boy who lives in Reboul, France that dreams of going to Paris. One day, after reading a book about Paris he decides to pack up a lunch and head for the city. Along the way he gets tired and falls asleep under a tree. This is when the story really gets good. I’m not sure if I should spoil the end for you, but lets just say it involves a pencil stealing bird with a band aid on its face."

MORE Children's book Favorites!

Memories...Chicka Chicka Boom Boom is a children's alphabet book. I remember really liking this book because of the bright colors and the famous line "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom!" It also has cute rhymes in it.

Honestly, one of the reasons I loved this book and remember it till this day was because of the famous name "Tikki Tikki Tembo-no sa rembo-chari bari ruchi- pip -peri pembo," which means the 'most wonderful thing in the whole wide world.' I loved the way it would sound to say the name. Try it! Basically this story is a retold "old Chinese folktale on how the people of China came to give their children short names after traditionally giving their "first and honored" sons grand, long names." It's a cute story that I'm sure you'd love.

I love this one! How many of us remember waking up and having the worst day ever? That's why I love this book because many children can relate to it as anyone else. Alexander wakes up one morning with "gum in his hair, tripping over a skateboard and dropping his sweater in the sink while the water was running and he knew it was going to be a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day." The rest of his day couldn't get any worse that he just wants to move to Australia. It's a great book!

You know that warm fuzzy feeling you get sometimes? This is one of those books that gets you feeling all fuzzy inside. It's a very soothing book to read especially when you are reading to a young one who is about to go to bed. It goes through the story telling goodnight to everything in the room. A good....book....to make....you....want to ......fall...................asleep.................

This book is one of my favorite's because of the illustrations. I don't even know how Stephen Gammell does his illustrations. It looks like a bunch of paint splatter everywhere, and I find it to be amazing. All his illustrations seem to have an eerie feeling about them, but I love it! Check out some of his other stuff like the following book.

Tell me who hasn't seen these Scary Story books?! It is filled with many spooky stories that usually 2nd-4th student would love to hear. They are chilling stories and especially with Stephen Gammell's illustrations. He has a collection of these Scary Stories so they keep on coming.

Like, Yasmin had posted her favorite.... what are YOUR favorite children's book?

strange japanese drinks

Tried every drink? need something new and different? well keep reading...

3. mother's milk. something about drinking milk from another mother makes me want to gag.

Ithaa

This undersea restaurant can be found as part of the Hilton Maldives Resort Spa Rangali Island Hotel. Only sitting a capacity of 12 people, this restaurant offers an amazing view of colorful and different fish. Do be adviced, dinner prices per person range from $177-220. Is it worth your dollar? In my opinion, I would love it, maybe an Orca can swim by... ha. I kid.

David Lanham

Travis, from There Will Be JPEGS, showed me the awesome work that David Lanham does. Being a computer graphics/art lover, Lanham creates digital images, icons, illustrations, and even sculptures that are visually excited, sleek, and enjoyable. One can download his Digital Creations and share the them, or just to have on your computer and appreciate. the animations probably my favorite, delightfully witty and cute.

DVNO

Justice just released their newest muscic video partnering once again with ED REC creative director and now fellow music producer SO ME.

With motion and graphic design monsters Machine Molle behind post production we can see a more refined and finished product when compared to the previous DANCE video. It looks amazing. The whole thing is a throw back to 70's and 80's retro design. Mainly reiterations of old school logos and motion graphics found in the intro sequences of movies, comercials and tv shows.

Keeps a similar style to the DANCE and Good Life videos by keeping the graphics tied to the lyrics. Check it out. Great tune. Great video.

Can't wait to see what SO ME has in store for us in years to come.

P.S. CHECK OUT THE HAIR ON GASPARD!!! FTW!!!

Who's been living in the Monkey House?!

This theory provided by Tim Gunn was rather interesting:

"When you first enter into the monkey house at the zoo you think, "Oh my God this place stinks!" And after you're there for twenty minutes you think, "It's not so bad..." And after you're there for an hour, "It doesn't smell at all!"

But anybody else coming into the monkey house, freshly, thinks, "Oh my God this STINKS!"

You've been living in the Money House"

Question is, how many of you been living in the monkey house?

Here is a clip from when Tim said it. :)
