Next Photoshop to tap GPUs for extra computing power

How exciting!

The latest installment of CS4 will tap into your GPU for the extra power needed for those multy layer designs you're working on. Sure Photoshop looks great on your mac but come October your basic gaming PC will smoke your Mac when it comes to manipulating images. A single GPU will be able to perform similar or outperform an 8 core skulltrail system, not to mention Mac's $6,000++ 8 Core Xeons.

Adobe was working on the project with NVIDIA so there aren't many details as to if there will be any sort of exclusivity with the chipset maker but its doubtfull any advancements would be tied to a specific card maker.

Seems like I now have an excuse to keep upgrading my desktop.

If only I could start getting a few design jobs and file my whole build as a business expense.

I think it's interesting that you post a more technical blog. Only a hardcore computer techie and a true designer would be so excited about CS4. Too funny. Good luck with your building massive computer venture.
